Title

Stochastic modelling of sonar sensor for mobile robot navigational applications

Abstract

Sonar sensor is widely used in mobile robot applications such as SLAM, obstacle avoidance and decision making etc. Due to some limitations of Sonar sensor like Specular reflection, forsighting, cross talking a calibration is required for accurate estimation of obstacle and environment around the robot. This paper presents the stochastic modelling of sonar sensor for particular indoor environment. The experiment has been conducted in an office environment in which the objects around the mobile robot are considered as the real environment. The calibration model for accurate mapping is given in the last section of paper.
