Title

Antibiotic Susceptibility Profile of MDR Pseudomonas by Nosocomial Urinary Tract Infection in Oxford Hospital, Jalandhar

Abstract

One of the most common problems worldwide is infection of the urinary tract which leads to nosocomial infection. The catheter represents a location where opportunistic pathogens, e.g. Pseudomonas, can be created. Present approaches have greatly decreased the presence of contagions in patients with UTIs. Nonetheless, catheter treatment may often result in lethal infections and continues to be a general risk of morbidity and mortality of urinary tract infections worldwide. 100 samples were taken from the Catheterized patients for the study from which 19% Pseudomonas spp. were isolated. The pattern of antibiotic susceptibility suggested that 100% of the isolates were resistant to Cefotaxime and 63.1% Norfloxacin, 31.5% Ceftazidime, Amikacin, Ciprofloxacin, Gentamicin, Meropenem, Cefixime and the least resistance was shown by Imipenem, Tobramycin, Piperacillin-tazobactam. Antibiotic resistance pattern shows that all of the 19 isolates were Multidrug resistance Pseudomonas (MDRP).
