Title

Optimum Utilization of Energy by Maximum Utilization of Daylight in Library of LPU Block-6

Abstract

Daylights are the natures biggest gifts to mankind, if tended well it provides warmth, security, evaporates and most importantly is the energy it provides. If properly planned and oriented according to the sun path the building can perform magic by keeping the workspace well-lit and warm. To harness the daylight and bring and grasp into the building is the responsibility of any sensible architects. And open to daylight office or classroom or a library is daydream to many, the artificial lights switched on during the day for a classroom or library is waste of energy and money. Dark or poorly lighted interior is psychologically disturbing to the users. It can cause many sicknesses like eye diseases, dizziness, lack of motivation and confidence. Considering the above notions, it is much needed to consider building with the flow of the daylight which is properly harnessed without much heat gains. This could be done by considering the plans and remodelling the orientation of the building, make shading devices in SE orientation, provide devices to filter the daylights into buildings, diffused lights to be brought into the building, keep openings toward the E-N-S (East-North-South) orientation.
