Title

A comparative study of pretreatments with NaOH and KOH on adsorption efficiency of tea waste for Cu ions

Abstract

The adsorption efficiencies of two pretreated tea wastes (with NaOH and KOH) were compared by changing different reaction parameters, the pH value and initial Cu(II) ion concentration. The equilibrium conditions were described by the Langmuir model adsorption isotherm. The Langmuir adsorption capacity was found to be 29.31 mg/g for STTW and 27.03 mg/g for PTTW at pH 6 .The pretreatment with 0.1 M NaOH was found to be the best treatment method for the removal of Cu (II) metal ions from its aqueous solution.
