Title

IMPACT OF SUBLETHAL CONCENTRATION OF MALATHION ON PROTEIN CONTENT OF MUSCLE OF CHANNA PUNCTATUS

Abstract

The freshwater fish Channa punctatus was exposed to sublethal concentrations of 0.05, 0.25 and 0.5 ppm organophosphorus pesticide, malathion for short duration (24 to 96 h). The body muscle showed reduction of protein content during 24 to 96 h after sublethal treatment with 0.05,.25 and .5 ppm malathion, The levels of prótęin showed a signifiçant decrease at high concentration (0.5 ppm) compared to low concentration (0.05 & 0.25 ppm).
