The rampant growth of technology and digitization has its own consequences. The credit card transactions have also increased leading to frauds. Credit card frauds lead not only to loss of money but also the loss of identity and privacy of the user. The dataset used in our system comes from a financial institution according to a confidential disclosure agreement. The proposed methodology makes use of the Logistic Regression (LR) algorithm for determining if the transaction is a fraud or not. The dataset containing the amount, time and transaction details is fed to the system. The user can interact with the fraud detection system through GUI. The transaction is matched against the fraud detection model. If the transaction is recognized as a genuine transaction then the user can safely proceed whereas if it is recognized as a fraud transaction then the user will be alerted. The work is implemented with Python machine learning models.
