Title

Evaluation de la production de cinq variétés de piment piquant (Capsicum sp.) dans les conditions agro-écologiques de Kindu/Misenge (RD Congo)

Abstract

In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and in the town of Kindu in particular, several varieties of pepper are grown (local and improved). The seeds of local varieties are produced by farmers, and those of improved varieties are lines selected by research or specialized institutions, characterized by their tolerance to diseases and their high productivity. It is under these conditions that a study was carried out on the evaluation of the behavior of different varieties of pepper (Tomboki, Pilipili ndogo, Boule de feu, Kisola and Safy) with regard to production and resistance to diseases. and pests in Kindu (Misenge). The results showed that the Safy, Kisola, Boule de feu, Tomboki and Pilipili Ndogo pepper varieties grown in the agro-ecological conditions of Kindu/Misenge suffered attacks from diseases and pests. The average fruit weight per plant was higher in Kisola (402.0±42.5 g) and Tomboki (325.8±67.4 g) varieties. Kisola and Tomboki varieties which have given high estimated yields compared to other varieties can be popularized in the region.
