Abstract

This research endeavors to embark on an exploration of the intricate domain of indirect speech acts woven within the tapestry of Indian English novels, delving into the rich tapestry of linguistic choices crafted by Indian writers. With a focused lens on selected literary works, this study endeavors to unravel the multifaceted layers of meaning embedded within indirect speech acts, thereby illuminating the nuanced interplay of cultural, social, and pragmatic dimensions intrinsic to communication within the realm of Indian English literature. Through a meticulous and comprehensive analysis, this paper aspires to enrich scholarly discourse by offering insights into how indirect speech acts serve as conduits for the transmission of intricate messages and interpersonal dynamics that imbue literary narratives with depth and complexity.In the context of Indian English literature, where diverse cultural and linguistic influences converge, the exploration of indirect speech acts holds significant promise in unraveling the complexities of communication.
