Title

A STUDY OF ADJUSTMENT ITS RELATION TO ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AMONG COLLEGE STUDENTS

Abstract

The education sector is currently moving in a competitive environment in the 21st century. The quality of students’ performance plays a major role in determining their personal growth and development. Students want to climb the ladder of academic success as high as possible. Adaptability can be considered as one of the strongest factors in enhancing the academic excellence of students and achieving a high level of personal, social, academic and emotional well-being. The present study attempts to examine the relationship between adaptability and academic achievement of college students. For this, the researchers purposively selected a sample of 100 students comprising 50 males and 50 females from different colleges. Adaptability Inventory for College Students (AICS) by Singh and Sinha was used to collect data. The results indicated that there was no significant difference in the average scores of adaptabilities between male and female students. Furthermore, it is revealed from this research paper that there is a high negative relationship between the overall adaptability and academic achievement of college students.
