Title

Growth and characterization of creatininium cinnamate single crystal for nonlinear optical applications

Abstract

Abstract The aim of this work is to investigate the optical and mechanical properties of non linear optical organic Creatininium cinnamate (CRCN) single crystal. Optically transparent and defect free single crystal was grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. Single crystal X-ray diffraction (SXRD) study reveals that the crystal belongs to monoclinic crystal system with P21/c space group. The transmittance ability of CRCN single crystal was studied by using UV-Visible spectral analysis and the optical constants were calculated. The emission behaviour of the synthesized material was studied by using photoluminescence spectral studies. Kurtz and Perry powder technique confirms the Second Harmonic Generation efficiency of CRCN single crystal. Third order non linear optical property was studied in detail by using Z- scan technique. Optical limiting behaviour of the grown crystal was studied and analysed. Mechanical strength of the grown crystal was found out by using Vickers microhardness test.
