Title

SURFACE DEFECTS IDENTIFICATION USING NON-DESTRUCTIVE METHOD

Abstract

To maintain structural health and reliability of concrete bridges, safety inspection and detection of cracks plays vital role in current era. A Non Destructive method issued here, to analyze the quality of concrete structure/bridge. The vibration of the bridge is analyzed using the piezoelectric sensor, and for controller arduino is used. The vibration is caused because of the interaction between the moving vehicles and bridge structures. Threshold value is fixed by using vibration values which is observed from the piezoelectric sensor for different loads. When it crosses the limit of the threshold value, it infers that bridge has some defects, then the image is captured from the camera and image processing technique issued to detect the cracks. The length and width of a crack is calculated. By help of this observation it can be decided that whether the bridge is want to be repairedoritmustbetotallyreconstructed.Topreventthebridgefromdefects,itshouldbecontinuouslymonitored.
