The present research paper is an attempt to explore the nature of consciousness of Chaudhuri’s fictional characters through Patañjali’s Yoga Sutras. Yoga Sūtras explore human mind and how it can be trained, developed and, finally, transcended. Patañjali’s work thus provides important tools to study the subjectivity of fictional characters. Yoga Sūtras offer useful insights into the workings of a mind and nature. A reading of Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras can offer fresh insights into the nature of mind, consciousness and self.
