Title

SYNTHESIS AND FORMULATION OF HETEROCYCLIC ANALOGS

Abstract

The structure of already-registered compounds may be altered to discover more powerful and/or crop-selective herbicides. Transgenic strategies that allow herbicide tolerance in agricultural plants are combined with a medication that has limited herbicide resistance, and this strategy is extremely fascinating, It's possible to suppress broadleaf weeds in a number of agricultural and specialty crops by using bromoxynil, which is an inhibitor of the photosystem II (PS II). The University of Tennessee Knoxville recently synthesised a previously synthesised pyridine (2,6-dibromo-5-hydroxypyridine-2-carbonitrile sodium salt), a new pyrimidine (4,6-dibromo-5-hydroxypyrimidine-2-carbonitrile sodium salt), and an unique pyridine N-oxide (2,6-dibromo-1-oxidopyridin-1-ium-4-carbonitrile). As well as soybean, pigweed, cotton, velvetleaf, gigantic crabgrass, and pitted morningglory were all evaluated for their herbicidal qualities against new bromoxynil analogues at a rate of 0.28 kg ha1 bromoxynil per hectare.
