Title

Recent Advances in Piezoelectric Polymers Materials

Abstract

Although a fundamental redesign of the materials and architectures used in current electronic systems would be required, the large-scale realization of intelligent, self-powered components and devices that exploit the piezoelectric effect could significantly improve our efficiency in using resources. The ability of some materials to produce an electrical bias in response to a mechanical deformation is known as piezoelectricity. Most of the materials utilized in this framework are polymers, which combine structural flexibility with lightweight design and simple manufacturing. Specifically, poly(vinylidene fluoride) and its copolymers display excellent piezoelectric responsiveness, are biocompatible, can withstand significant pressures, and are easily molded into nanomaterials. Overall, these materials exhibit a wide range of pertinent qualities that can be crucial for creating electronic components and next-generation, sustainable energy-harvesting devices that can be used in a variety of industries.
