This research paper highlights about the Egyptian Military life that is reflected in Yusuf Sibai’s novel “Life is a moment” (العمر لحظة). This novel is one of the most important Sibai’s fictional works, in which he presents various aspects of problems associated with the social issues what Egyptian soldiers suffer during their military life. It depicts the sacrifice of the soldiers’ spirit and their attempt to liberate the occupied land from the Jews during the war of attrition (حرب الاستنزاف) that occurred between Egypt and the Israeli Zionist entity on the eastern and western banks of the Suez Canal. Where this war took place between two countries in 1967 and continued until 1970. This paper draws on the social problems that the Egyptian soldiers left behind in Egypt and went to the battlefront without solving those problems. So those social problems remain alive in their hearts when they fought in the battle. Writer also referred to the challenges faced by military force in the battlefield during the sacrifices of their souls for the sake of the safety of society and the nation. Yusuf Sibai as a cavalry officer in the Egyptian army and as a professor, director and also a dean in the Secondary military school, he observes all the issues and problems in his real military life and records them in his literary works.
