Title

State of the Art Real Time Finger Tracking System

Abstract

The hands hold significant importance in virtual reality (VR) applications since they serve as the primary mode of interaction with the virtual environment. The human hand is a highly intricate biological mechanism capable of executing a wide range of tasks with remarkable precision and agility. In addition, gestures play a significant role in our daily social interactions, and humans possess a notable aptitude for discerning and comprehending intricate signals within communication. Developing realistic hand gestures for virtual characters is a significant and complex undertaking. This research presents a methodology for the detection of human finger motion and gestures via a dual-camera system. The identification of the target on a flat monitor or screen is achieved by the utilization of image processing techniques and the intersection of lines. This is achieved through the analysis of photos captured from above and from the side of the hand. The device possesses the capability to monitor and record the motion of the finger without the need to construct a three-dimensional representation of the hand. The extraction of finger coordinates and movement from a real-time video feed can be utilized to determine the corresponding coordinates and movement of the mouse pointer, thereby facilitating human-computer interaction.
