Abstract
The Species Jungermannia (Solenostoma) Ariadne Tay. was reported from Sikkim (Mitten, 1861). Specimens of the species were studied. A complete study of vegetative as well as reproductive structure are given in the current account. The species belongs to the section Desmorhizae of Subgenus Solenostoma. Plants show rhizoids in a bundle along the stem as well as on the base of leaves and perianth. Plants are dioecious with intercalary male inflorescence and terminal perianth. Jungermannia ariadne Tayl. Has been long treated as species of Plectocolea (Mitten, 1861), (Amakawa, 1960). After Examination and comparative study of some good plants from Borneo, remarked that this species belong to subg. Solenostoma.
The Study is based on the Specimen from foreign herbarium (Singh.P 1991).
