Title

SMART DISTRIBUTION – SMART ENERGY METER

Abstract

Abstract: The primary aim of the Smart distribution project is to substitute the traditional energy meter with a smart energy meter. The smart energy meter will enable the assimilation of distributed solar energy generated from residential and commercial buildings with the conventional power supply of the grid. Additionally, this model can automatically generate an automatic monthly bill, which falls into the net amount type. This bill may either be a net amount to be received or a net amount to be paid. The net amount to be received is applicable when the power transmitted from the solar power generated place to the grid exceeds the power taken from the grid during excess of generated solar power in that particular month. Conversely, the net amount to be paid is relevant when the power taken from the grid during a shortage in that month surpasses the power supplied to the grid during shortage of solar power generation. To implement this smart distribution project, we utilized components such as Arduino Uno, current and voltage sensors, and relays. These components transformed the traditional energy meter into a smart energy meter that can automatically connect and disconnect the grid supply by transmitting signals to the respective relays. The algorithm designed in this project is responsible for calculating the net monthly bill.
