Title

Oleaginous Yeast: A Promising Pathway for Biodiesel Production

Abstract

As the global demand for renewable and sustainable energy sources continues to rise, biodiesel has emerged as a promising alternative to traditional fossil fuels. Oleaginous yeasts have garnered significant attention in recent years as a potential sustainable source for biodiesel production. Their ability to accumulate high levels of lipids, including triacylglycerols (TAGs), makes them an attractive alternative to traditional oil crops and petroleum-based sources. To ensure the economic viability and environmental sustainability of biodiesel production, optimization of the production process is crucial. Resonance Surface Methodology (RSM) has gained significant attraction as a powerful tool for optimizing biodiesel production processes. This review explores the characteristics of oleaginous yeast, their lipid accumulation capabilities, and the various strategies employed to enhance lipid production. Additionally, it discusses the potential of oleaginous yeast as a viable alternative to traditional oil sources in biodiesel production. It also provides an in-depth analysis of the applications of RSM in biodiesel production optimization. It explores the principles of RSM, its advantages, and its integration with biodiesel production, highlighting its role in enhancing process efficiency, reducing costs, and minimizing environmental impact. The review also highlights the advantages, challenges, and future prospects of utilizing oleaginous yeast for biodiesel production
