A laser shaft alignment tool based on spot viewing method is designed in this thesis. All the parts of tool are designed and fabricated as per the requirement of the method. The tool has two different approaches for testing. The first one is a manual method, where the deviation of spot is measured manually whereas in the other method a digital receiver end is designed to get more precise location of the laser spot on the disc. The designed laser alignment tool can compensate soft ground effect and temperature effect. Therefore, it will do alignment activity beneath varied conditions. It will meet the necessity of coaxiality measurement in shafting. The tool can also be calibrated using a V-notch block manually.
