Title

EXPLORING THE COMPETENCIES OF BUSINESS SCHOOL FACULTY MEMBERS IN BENGALURU – AN EMPIRICAL STUDY

Abstract

The main characteristic feature of the 21st century is the dynamic combination of globalization and digital technologies. The pace at which information transfer is happening has distorted the traditional boundaries of businesses, thereby placing greater responsibilities on the educational institutions to meet the new challenges. In view of these challenges, expectations from faculty members are high. Therefore, the need of the hour is to recognize and develop the competencies of teachers and to help the teachers achieve success in this endeavour. The main objective of this study is to explore the competencies of Business school faculty in the domain of knowledge, skills and abilities. The review of related literature helped explore and identify an all-inclusive list of competencies for teachers. Full-time faculty working as Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors in University affiliated institutions in urban Bengaluru were the focus of the study. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The responses were rated on a numerical score based on a 5-point Likert scale and competency proficiency scale was used for analysis.
