Title

Seasonal Biochemical Variation In The Muscles Of Fresh Water Fish Mystus Cavasius (Hamilton 1822)

Abstract

Significant contribution to nutrition can be fulfilled by fish consumption. The Present study deals with to investigate seasonal biochemical variation in muscles of indigenous fresh water fish species Mystus cavasius collected from fishermen of Tiru reservoir (Latitude.18.5555430 N Longitude 77.0736410 E) of Udgir region Dist. Latur Maharashtra. Seasonal variation in Muscle moisture, Protein, Glycogen and lipid is studied during December 2020 to November 2021. Moisture content is minimum in the month of June (76.25%) and maximum in the month of March (78.72%) with average mean value 77.66%. Protein content minimum in the month of June (66.87197 ± 0.20548%) and maximum in the month of May (73.13863 ± 0.124722%) with average mean value 70.23308 ± 0.14892 % or mg/100mg on dry weight basis. Glycogen content is minimum in the October (0.485665 ±0.024944%) and maximum in the month December (1.155665 ± 0.02357%) with average mean value 0.764554 ± 0.010195% or mg/100mg on dry weight basis. Lipid content is minimum in the month of July (4.251758± 0.124722%) and maximum in the month October (7.461758±0.012472%) with average mean value 6.197035 ±0.035921% or mg/100mg on dry weight basis.
