In the present scenario manufacturing of solid concrete blocks became complicated from quality and economic point of view, because of non-availability of natural resources and skilled labors. This scarcity of natural sand because of environmental issue leads to usage of manufactured sand, and filter sand in the manufacturing of concrete blocks. To overcome the issues of natural sand, granulated blast furnace slag sand which is a by-product of steel manufacturing plant is used partially and completely for fine aggregate (about 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) in the manufacturing of concrete blocks. Characterization of materials was carried out to know the properties and behavior of GBS in solid concrete blocks during its fresh and hardened state. All tests on concrete block were carried as per IS 2185(Part1):2005.
