Title

Job Satisfaction among Formal and Informal Education Sector Employees in Kerala – A Principal Component Analysis Approach

Authors

Abstract

This study explores job satisfaction among formal and informal employees in Kerala’s higher education sector. Based on primary data from 300 teachers across government, aided, and unaided colleges, employees were grouped into formal employees and informal employees. Using factor analysis, four key dimensions of job satisfaction were identified: income security, professional exposure, career growth, and non-wage benefits. Statistical tests revealed significant differences in satisfaction levels between formal and informal employees. The findings highlight the need for inclusive policies to protect informal workers and address the growing informalisation in the education sector.
