There are many types of 'Vidya' in Vedic Literature. We should know that 'Brahm' or 'Moksha' (Salvation) is Supreme Goal of Human life, by which we make ourselves free from Physical Universe. I mean we can merge ourselves in Supreme power, which is known as Brahm. By which we can obtain it, that is Vidya. On other hand, excepting Vidya, everything is known as Avidya. There are four types of Vidyas in Brahmavidyopanishad and Shandilyopanishd, named as: 1. Brahmavidya, 2. Omkaravidya, 3. Hansavidya and 4. Shandilyavidya. The obtaining of 'Brahm' is the main aim of all Vidyas, but there paths are different. So every path has a unique name, which is known as a special form of Vidya. We should know that the main motive of Shandilyopanishad, named 'Shandilyavidya' is called as 'Ashtangayoga' in Yogasutra, written by Maharshi Patanjali.
