Human rights stem from the dignity and worth inherent in human being. Human rights and fundamental freedom have been reiterated in Universal Declaration of Human Rights and in the Constitution of India. There is no denying the fact that democracy, development and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms are inter-dependent and have mutual reinforcement. In the context of the industrial disasters like the Bhopal gas tragedy and frauds by the companies like the Satyam scam, the new law regulating the companies must contain comprehensive provisions to deal with all facets of human rights violations so that every man, woman and child is able to have a peaceful life.
