Title

IMPACT OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE ON THE SUPERVISION SKILL OF BANK MANAGERS IN KERALA

Abstract

This study examines how emotional intelligence affects managers working in Kerala's three major banking sectors—the public sector, the old private sector, and the new private sector—and how that affects their ability to plan strategically. The sample bank managers were chosen from the entire list of bank managers in Kerala using a multi-stage stratified random sampling procedure. The analysis, which was conducted using 350 responses from bank managers in each of the three major regions of the state, indicates that managers' supervision skills are significantly impacted by their emotional intelligence. The results of the multiple linear regression model used to examine the impact show that the regression is reasonably excellent, explaining 31.4% of the variation in bank managers' supervision abilities. The coefficients of all Emotional Intelligence elements (Self-awareness, Self-management, Social awareness, and Social skills) were found to be significant, leading to the conclusion that the Emotional Intelligence of the bank managers chosen for the study has a significant impact on their Supervision skill. This study would be useful for bank managers to understand the impact of Emotional Intelligence on supervision skills and to work on improving them. The findings of this research will also lay the groundwork for banking administrators to develop appropriate recruitment and selection policies.
