Desai occupies an unassailable place in the galaxy of Indian English Women Novelists. She is one of the strongest voices of women writing in Indian Society. Every novel of Desai is unique in itself. Her novels are concerned with the emotional world of women revealing a rare, imaginative awareness of various deeper forces at work and a profound understanding of female sensibility.
