The research paper delves deep into the notion of marriage and its various manifestations in the folk narrative tradition of Haryanvi folktales.This has been seen and analysed in terms of marginalized position of women in a subaltern context.There are multiple layers of meanings that comeout of even simple folknarration.The fact remains that the condition of Haryanvi women remains complex and problem ridden in the contemporary context inspite of few efforts on part of social establishment and political establishment.
