Development and disparity are interlinked concepts often discussed in the context of economic, social, and political spheres. Understanding the relationship between development and disparity is crucial for creating policies that promote equitable growth and improve the well-being of all members of society. HDI is a valuable tool for understanding and promoting human development, providing a broader perspective than purely economic measures and highlighting the importance of health, education, and income for overall well-being. Karnataka is on the path of rapid and inclusive development and has established its identity at national and global level as a dynamic and progressive State. Yet the chronic agrarian distress, widespread malnutrition, poor school education outcomes, growing inequality, a few to name are indicators that the foundations of progress remain fragile, especially in Northern Karnataka and particularly in Hyderabad- Karnataka region. Karnataka Human Development Reports 1999, 2005 and 2015, and Karnataka District Human Development reports 2014 have already provided stimulus in boosting human development indicators within the State.
