Abstract: The subject of the study is to analysis the impact of demonetization in the banking sector in India. The analysis focuses on the stock price of these banks. NSE listed public and private sector banks are used for this study. Hereby we found that there is a significant impact of demonetization on the public banks and but private banks were not much affected. Therefore we conclude that the public bank was having a positive impact on public banks more than the private banks. We used both CAPM model and Market return model for making the result more accurate. Keywords: Demonetization, event study, NSE listed banks, CAPM, market return model
