No country in the world is free from social problems though the advancement of science and technology has brought countries on developing tracks but on the other hand social problems hinder the overall development of a country. So far as these social problems are concerned one may find a chain of these social problems because of their interrelation and interdependence, one social problem gives birth to another one and the process of birth of new social problems goes on for example population growth may lead to shortage of resources then unemployment and poverty and unemployment may lead to theft and burglary etc. so the above sighted example makes it clear that one social problem becomes the root cause of another social problem. Not only this but the development of societies has led to the emergence of new problems like urbanization, gambling, corruption, white collar crime , beggary , alcoholism and drug addiction. Among the above social problems focus will be on drug addiction. Drug addiction is a recent social problemwhich has different dimensions and causes of grabbing a person. A lot of questions arise when we think of drug addiction, why people use drugs, for which purpose drugs are being manufactured? How can we curb drug addiction? How it affects the family and society? How this social menace hinders the overall development of society. These questions are really a challenge not only for policy makers(govt.) but also for civil society.
