Abstract

Am I committed to my organization? is the most frequently asked question one ask to himself, to understand reason to be associated with the organization for longer duration. Organization Commitment cannot be judge or evaluated on the basis of number of years but the perfect way to evaluate the same is to understand employee .perspective to stay associated with organization even when each factor, each situation gave him ample opportunity to leave. The organization commitment is more often misinterpreted with the term employee engagement, where as it is evident from available literature that both the construct are distinct from each other yet have level of interdependency. Were as Organization Commitment directly contributes toward employee performance, employee engagement is indirectly related to organization growth. Organization commitment is a more static attribute whereas employee engagement is more momentary and thus wider in its implication in comparison to organizational commitment. This study aims to analyze difference between both the construct organization commitment and employee engagement while identifying relationship between the said construct (if any). For the study 390 employees from retail segment were selected through convenient sampling, employee engagement level of respondent where analyzed using UWES scale and Rhodes scale was used to analyze organizational commitment. The inferential statistic result using SPSS supported presence of positive and strong relationship between organization commitment and employee engagement.
