Title

Childhood Malnutrition: A Major Concern for Nascent Generation

Abstract

This review proposing programmes and interventions to improve substantial gains in cost, efficiency, and effectiveness for prevent malnutrition. Malnutrition has emerged as a major health issue associated with children health largely developing and underdeveloped countries. The effect of malnutrition could be seen in people of each country. Approximately, 30% babies born in India are of low birth weight (<2500 g) having 11-13 times increased risk of dying. More than 80% of total neonatal deaths take place among low birth weight or preterm neonates. It was found that 35% of child deaths and 11% of the total disease burden worldwide are attributable to early childhood malnutrition. In order to reduce the problem of malnutrition, there is a need of examining several issues of nutritional significance for effective planning of interventions such as maternal nutrition and fetal growth relationship, long term effects of early life under-nutrition, interactions of prenatal nutritional experiences and postnatal under-nutrition. Specific programmes and policies with hybrid approaches can be applied to control malnutrition.
