Title

A STUDY ON THE IMPACT OF EDUCATIONAL EXPENDITURE ON THE ENROLLMENT OF SCHEDULED CATEGORY STUDENTS IN INDIA: AN EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE

Abstract

Achievement of higher literacy rates is the aim of all governments which in turn leads to the growth and development of a nation. Education is a tool to remove the poverty and inequalities prevailing in a country. For a country like India, it is more essential to empower its youth and also its population with education to be globally competitive. Ever since India's independence, several policies and strategies have been developed to tackle the massive illiteracy prevailing in the country. Education is ultimately a weapon to address the poverty in the country. Particular attention needs to be drawn towards the scheduled categories of the nation who are very backward in all cases. Meanwhile, several schemes are primarily aimed to give the Right of Right to Education to these backward classes. This provides a need to supervise the budgetary allocations and expenditures for the upliftment of these categories. In this scenario, the present study attempts to testify the impact of the educational spending by the government for both the primary and the secondary education on the enrollments of the students from the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes in India. The present study brings out a clear study with empirical evidence in India. It also describes the literary situation prevailing in Telangana.
