This work deals with the difficulties of the rural learners while learning English. The main objectives of this study are to investigate the problems in which the learning in English of the rural learners are affected. To identify those problems this work focuses on the relationship of various factors like economic family status, mother tongue interference, family motivation and school motivation with the learning English of the rural learners. This work also studies the difference in learning English of the boys and the girls students. This study is based on self-administrated questionnaire among the 50 upper primary level learners of Joypur Block, Bankura District. All the data were analyzed using SPSS version 20 and M.S. Excel 2013. In this study, it is found that the factors like mother tongue, economic family status, family motivation and school motivation have a positive relationship with the English language learning of the rural learners. It is also found that there is no significant difference between the English language learning of the Boys and of the Girls students.
