Title

Performance Investigation of LEACH, DEEC and PEGASIS for Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract

In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), hierarchical routing is considered as an effective solution for energy efficiency. LEACH and PEGASIS are two pioneer models for cluster-based and chain-based routing respectively for homogeneous WSNs. DEEC is one of the popular variant of LEACH designed for heterogeneous networks. In this paper, hierarchical protocol LEACH, PEGASIS and DEEC are presented and compared on the basis of various performance metrics like energy consumption, energy distribution, Network lifetime, scalability, route length and average work done per sensor node.
