Metal matrix composites have good strength, good stiffness, and machinability. Comparison of different mechanical properties and thermal properties are done for different types of metal matrix like 2024, 6061, 6063, 3003, and 7075. In this work, alumina is selected as reinforcement and aluminum as matrix material. The composition of materials is based on a literature review. Stir casting process is used for manufacturing and then specimens are formed with the size of (20*8) mm with the different percentage of alumina like 3%, 6%, 9% and 12%. Surface morphology of the specimen is seen before conducting the test. Wear test is conducted for all the 4 specimens with pin-on-disc apparatus, wear rate and wear factor is calculated. Test result and microstructure analysis revels which is the best composition of the aluminum metal matrix.
