India is a developing country, having high rate of population. It is not possible to achieve the status of developed country without the development of all men and women living in India and the industry are one of that sectors which definitely can help the people to gain high economic development. The more women involve in economic activity, more the country benefits. Hence, the women entrepreneurship is necessary to channelize the wheels of the economy. If women engages in economic activities, they use to learn and their children also use to get better involvement into the education, reduces dropout rates and women entrepreneurs generates new income sources. The present research paper attempts to study socio-economic background of the women entrepreneurs and the problems faced by them in the Kolhapur city.
