Abstract: Iron and steel making slag are by products of the iron making and steel making processes. Today, these types of slag have been widely used in cement and as aggregate for civil works. The report presents an investigation of physical properties, chemical and mechanical properties i.e. they are strong, durable, having excellent angular shape and high resistance to abrasion and impact. For checking the strength and durability of concrete compressive strength test and split tensile strength is done for 7 and 28 days with concrete by adding steel slag as replacement of sand in various percentages i.e. 10% & 20%. The results show that the strength properties of concrete increase significantly when sand is partially replaced by steel slag.
