The concept of corporate governance has gained importance in the recent past. To get a fair view on the subject it would be prudent to give a narrow as well as a broad definition of corporate governance. In a narrow sense, corporate governance involves a set of relationships amongst the company’s management, its board of directors, its shareholders, its auditors and other stakeholders. Empirical studies have been conducted in various countries on whether there is any link between the corporate governance / board composition and corporate performance. Much of the previous literature has shown a positive relationship between governance and firm performance. The broader objective of this research paper is to understand the Corporate Governance processes of Indian Companies and to see the impact of Corporate Governance on the Financial Performance.
