This is a study on Wage incentive scheme of the Indian railways with reference to Carriage Repair Workshop Tirupati in South Central Railway. The study aims to suggest methods to improve the existing group incentive scheme being implemented there and also to examine the hypothesis whether short term incentive relates the individual to the overall performance of the organization. The study covered the incentive production groups in the workshops. The study examined Group Incentive Scheme with reference to Tirupati workshop. The GIS which offers a Win- Win environment to the management and to the employees needs certain changes as per the requirements of the ground realities.
