Toothpaste is a paste or gel dentifrice used with a toothbrush as an accessory to clean and maintain the aesthetics and health of teeth. The study investigated antimicrobial activities from 12 different toothpaste against Gram positive (Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumonia, Streptococcus pyogenes) and Gram negative (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia) bacteria. All bacteria were isolated from dirty water and identified with Gram staining and various biochemical test. Based on the results, all toothpaste having antimicrobial activity against maximum bacteria but pepsodent, sensodyne and patanjali of more effective toothpaste.
