Title

EVALUATION OF ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITIES OF NAPHTHOIC ACID AND ITS DERIVATIVES

Abstract

A newly synthesized lanthanum complex like 1- naphthoic acid, 2-naphthoic acid, 1-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid, 2-hydroxy-1-naphthoic acid, 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid and 2-napthoxy acetic acid have been screened for antibacterial activity by MIC method and results were compared with the activity of the un complexed antibiotic against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The metal complexes were found to be more potent against one or more bacterial species than the uncomplexed Ciprofloxacin.
