OCCUPATIONAL STRESS AMONG WOMEN EMPLOYEES IN PRIVATE SECTOR BANKS WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO VIRUDHUNAGAR DISTRICT

Abstract

Banking sector is considered as the backbone for the economic development of any country and working women being a considerable part of the society, also plays a vital role in the smooth functioning of banking sector. There are lots of challenges in front of the working women in private banking sector. Working women had a potential to bring a positive change in socio-economic conditions of the country. In fact women frequently commit to achieve between their career and life. Workload beyond one’s capacity, ambiguity in defining duties and responsibilities, lack of support from family, non co-operation from higher authorities, colleagues and customers, work life imbalance, dual role etc., are some of the source of the stress for women employees in organization which in turn affect the mental and physical well being of them. Stress is very significant factor in human behavior which affects the performance and health of individual. Stress has physical and emotional effects on us and can create positive or negative feelings. As positive influences, stress can help compel us to action; it can result in feelings of destruct, rejection, anger and depression, which can turn lead to health problem such as headache, back pain, acidity problems, high blood pressure, heart diseases, stroke etc.,
