Title

DFIG Based Variable Speed Wind Energy Conversion Using Fuzzy Controller With Power Smoothening

Abstract

This paper deals with the analysis, structure and management of grid interfaced doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) primarily based Variable speed wind energy conversion system for power smoothening with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) capability. This DFIG uses rotor position computation algorithm (RPCA) for the sensor less control through rotor position algorithm. Power fluctuations because of the undesirable nature of the wind are nullified by introducing Battery Energy Storage System within the DC link between 2 back to back connected voltage source converters (VSCs). The planning of BESS is conferred for feeding regulated power to the grid no matter the wind speeds. The management algorithmic program of Grid side device (GSC) is changed for feeding regulated power to the grid. Rotor Side converter (RSC) is controlled for achieving MPPT and unity power factor (UPF) operation at the stator coil terminals. A model of this proposed DFIG primarily based WECS is developed employing a MATLAB/simulink. This developed DFIG is tested extensively at completely different wind speeds and additionally conferred some of the steady state check results. Dynamic performance of this DFIG is additionally incontestable for the variable wind speed operation.
