ANALYSIS OF ORGANIZATIONAL CHALLENGES TO RETAIN EMPLOYEES IN ANCILLARY INDUSTRIES OF BHEL, TIRUCHIRAPPALLI.

Abstract

The organizational challenges have ensured appropriate engagement and development of the employees, harnessing their fullest potentialities. This becomes the ultimate challenge all the organizations have to face today. Keeping in view the present day scenario, it is essential to understand why people stay in an organization. It is a general phenomenon that people stay with their employers when they see the organization as a source of pride and affiliation. Today’s organization have challenged in work task. So the leaders in corporate sectors has used in various approaches to face the challenge workforce. Offering enormous business value, attracting and retaining of talented employees is complex and continually evolving. Predictive workforce monitoring will lead to effective strategic talent decision- making. An organization has viewed good employees in many perspectives, including from employee, employer, industry and public perspectives. In order for any organization to achieve its goals, a committed workforce is essential. It has, however, become a great challenge for organizations to attract and retain employees as the power of success has shifted from organizations to employees. To know the socio demographic profile of the employees of the Ancillary Industries of BHEL at Tiruchirappalli. A good research work requires a clear scientific methodology because only through the application of correct methodology in selection of sampling techniques, appropriate tools of data collection etc; well-founded conclusion can be drawn on the phenomenon under consideration. Pilot study was conducted to assess the feasibility of the study. It was indeed a trial run done in preparation for the final study and was instrumental in designing the research protocol, identifying and finalizing the sample, and, in determining the tool of data collection. Both types of data i.e., secondary and primary data have been used in the present study. The secondary data was collected at first form the text books, web sites, journals and other secondary sources. The employees of different cadre in the ancillary industries of BHEL at Trichy are treated as the population of the study. Out of 560 ancillary industries, ten major players are considered for the study. Equal share of respondents as male and female. While determining the marital status of the respondents, again an equal majority of the employees are married and unmarried. The mean for all the seven attributes of challenges in retention of employees and shows that Skills shortages, Aging workforce, and Organizational Change are those which sustains in the scale neither agree nor disagree. Organizations that intend to retain its employees have to examine their existing culture, structure and processes. And also identify the employee’s expectation and motivational factors. Employee involvement needs to be planned for and included in the implementation of the company strategy. This study may only be a beginning and many issues still remain to be answered. It can be performed in a different industry and in different corporate culture.
