Job satisfaction plays an important role in the service sector also. With education, being an important service sector has a direct bearing on the future growth of the economy, improvement in the level of satisfaction on job of teachers is a pre requisite for the outcome of a quality output – namely the knowledge of students. With the private sector participation is being pervasive in the education industry, the general revenue maximization behaviour of the private sector creates skepticism on the job satisfaction of the teacher employees. In the present paper it is attempted to understand the teachers’ opinion on the level of satisfaction on job. To examine this issue, 300 teachers were selected from private, government and aided schools of Coimbatore district. The study could come out with the conclusion of the significant impact of the socio economic and job related factors on the level of job satisfaction.
