Influence of Fruitfly (Bactrocera dorsalis) Infestation on Thermal Conductivity of Mango fruits

Abstract

Influence of Fruitfly (Bactrocera dorsalis) Infestation on Thermal Conductivity of Mango fruits was evaluated for healthy and infested fruits (15-20 maggots/ fruit) of Totapuri and Alphonso. Thermal conductivity of healthy and infested mango fruits was determined by line heat source method (Sweat, 1974). Moisture content (%), density (g/cc) and TSS(oBrix) of the samples were determined as per standard procedures. The investigation showed that at constant temperature, thermal conductivity of infested fruits was higher than healthy fruits. Differential heating of infested and healthy fruits influenced the change in thermal conductivity between the healthy and fruitfly infested fruits of mango.
