Title

Study of Crystal Violet Dye in Aqueous Solution using Palmyra Borassus Flabellifer Natural Materials

Abstract

Adsorption of Crystal Violet dye from aqueous solution on the surface of Palmyra (Borassus Flabellifer) was accomplished under the optimize conditions of concentration, pH, contact time and quantity of adsorbent. Spectro analytical technique was used for the measurements of concentration of dye before and after adsorption. The percentage removal of Crystal Violet was found to be 84.37 %. The values of % adsorption of Palmyra (Borassus Flabellifer) showed better adsorption capacity. The found data were fitted to the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm equations. The values of their homologous constant were determined from the slope and intercepts of their respective plots. The results of these investigations recommended that natural adsorbents can be utilized as adsorption materials, because of their selectivity for the removal of dyes. From the study, it was found that maximum adsorption of 94.44 % was obtained at pH of 8 with an adsorbent dosage of 150mg at 90 mins.
